Global Materials

The Global Materials page serves as your company-wide hub for procurement and inventory management. Unlike the project-specific materials tab, this dashboard aggregates every Bill of Materials (BOM) and purchase entry across all active projects into a single, centralized interface.

Global Search and Receiving

When shipments arrive, it is not always immediately obvious which project a package is intended for. The Global Materials page is designed to drastically simplify the receiving and check-in process.

• Cross-Project Search: You can search for any item name, manufacturer, or purchase detail across the entire company database.
• Instant Identification: Locating an item will instantly display its associated project and specific line item. This allows you to properly check in the material and update its status without needing to hunt through individual project dashboards.

Importing and Exporting Data

For complex systems or large quotes, manually entering materials one by one can be a bottleneck. The Global Materials page offers robust tools for handling data at scale:

• Import from Excel: You can download the standardized Excel template and populate it with your material requirements offline (or export it from a vendor's quoting tool). Once ready, simply upload the Excel sheet to automatically generate and categorize your BOM entries.
• Export BOM Entries: You can export your current filtered view or the entire BOM database. This is highly useful for external reporting, generating formal RFQs (Requests for Quote) for vendors, or conducting internal audits.

Bulk Editing

To keep material records up to date efficiently, the Global Materials table supports comprehensive bulk actions, allowing you to manage large quantities of data with just a few clicks.

• Selecting Entries: Use the checkboxes next to individual items to select specific entries, or click the master checkbox at the top of the column to select the entire table at once.
• Applying Bulk Edits: Once your items are selected, you can perform bulk modifications. This allows you to simultaneously change the status of dozens of items (e.g., from "Ordered" to "Received"), assign multiple materials to a single purchase entry, or update specific details across a wide range of parts all at once.
